Water Damage Restoration
Here's a few tips on what you can to to minimize water damage:
- Use fans and dehumidifiers (if the temperature outside is over 60°F ) if you have them to help the drying process.
- Don't use a vacuum (or any other electrical appliance) to remove water.
- Remove as much water as you can using a mop and any other rags/sponges you can have at your disposal.
- Try not to enter areas with standing water if the electricity in that area is still on.
- Wipe furniture dry, place wood blocks or aluminum foil under the legs, open drawers, and prop up wet furniture cushions for even drying.
- Open any closet doors to help the air flow to help the drying process,
- Remove wet area rugs and other fabrics and dry them as soon as possible. Keep furs and leather items apart at room temperature.
- Lift drapes off the carpet. Consider using a coat hanger hanging from the drapery rod to keep the drapes off the carpet.
- Remove books, photos, paintings, and any other art objects to a safe and dry location.
- In a cooler season, leave the heater on. If it's a warmer season, use an air conditioner if one's available.
